Kalaratri (black as night, destroyer of Kali)

Navaratri is one of the most anticipated festivals as people worship the divine Goddess Durga. So far, we have seen six forms of Goddess Durga. The rest of the three days are very important avatars of Goddess Jangan Matta. The sixth day is dedicated to Maa Katyayani, daughter of Sage Katakana, while the seventh day of Navaratri is dedicated to Durga

Worshipping Maa kalaratri

The avatar is one of the fiercest forms of Maa Durga. It is also called Maa kali. The word kali means time or death, and the second word, ratri, means night. It is considered that Maa Kali brings an end to darkness and fills lives with light. She destroys all evil spirits, ghosts, and demon entities. Maa kali is also known as Subankari, as she brings auspicious news.

AVATAR

Maa Kali has a dark complexion and long untied hair. She is drenched in blood and wears a garland of skulls around her neck and has four hands. A thunderbolt and scimitar can be seen in her two hands. The other two hands are in Abhaya and Varada mudras. People believe that she protects her devices from all bad evils and blesses them with tranquillity and peace for them and the world.

Colour: The colour of this is grey. It symbolises the destruction of evil. The Goddess is there to protect us from demon entities and show us the light and right path to follow in our lives.

Flowers  :Passiflora is offered to Goddess Maa Kali on the seventh day of Navaratri. We call passiflora the Jhumki flower in Telugu.

Prasadam: Poha, Chennal dal, coconut jaggery in the south. They offer honey to Maa kali.
