Shami pooja stotram, Shami pooja prayer on Dasara

sami samaya te papam sami satru vinasini
arjunasya dhanurdhari ramasya priyadarsini || 1 ||

samim kamalapatraksim samim kantakadharinim
arohatu samim laksmim nrnamayusyavardhanim || 2 ||

namo visvasavrksaya parthasastradharine
tvattah patram pratiksyami sada me vijayi bhava || 3 ||

dharmatma satyasandhasca ramo dasarathiryadi
pauruse ca:’ pratidvandvascarainam jahiravanim || 4 ||

amangalanam prasamim duskrtasya ca nasinim
dussvapnaharinim dhanyam prapadye:’ham samim subham

Meaning 

Oh Samee, Holy Fire Tree!  You have protected the Holy weapons of Pandavas, you have shown the path to Hanuman, to find Sita, the beloved spouse of Sri Rama. You are so powerful you can burn our sins to ashes, and can drive away our enemies like ego, lust, greed, selfishness, etc.

The Lord Rides on His horseback from Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple to the dense forest of Samsara and stands guard to protect those who recite this sloka on Vijaya Dasami Day.

The Sami tree is a saviour of sin. Destroys enemies. On this day, Arjuna’s bow was tied. She loved Sri Ram. The convenience of pilgrims. Makes all the work go on smoothly. 

History

“Sri Rama” worshiped this ‘Aparajita’ Devi on this Vijayadashami day and killed Ravana and got the victory. That is, when Lord Rama saw the ten heads of Ravanasura and worshiped the sleeping Shakti (Devi), she woke up and worshiped Lord Rama and gave victory to Lord Rama. Aswayuja Shuklapadyam was the time when Lord Rama awakened his power. On the tenth day from that day, Lord Rama went from Pushpakamekka to Ayodhya with complete victory. So before leaving, Sami worshiped the tree. That is why it is becoming customary to celebrate Navratri and do Shami Pooja on Vijayadashami.
