Samaveda
The Samaveda is one of the four main Vedas, Hindu sacred texts, and is a collection of hymns and melodies intended for use in Vedic rituals. It is based on the Rigveda and consists primarily of musical renditions of hymns from the Rigveda, to be sung by a particular class of priests (udgataras) during certain rituals. The Samaveda is considered to be a liturgical text and is used in Hindu worship to this day, particularly in the chanting of mantras. The melodies in the Samaveda are believed to have therapeutic and spiritual benefits, and are considered to have a powerful influence on the mind and body. The Samaveda, along with the other Vedas, continues to be a major source of Hindu spiritual and cultural heritage.
