Kho Kho Rules
Kho Kho is a traditional Indian team sport that can be played with different team sizes. When played with seven players on each side, the game becomes more dynamic and challenging. Here are the rules for playing Kho Kho with seven players a side:
Materials:
- Kho Kho field: A rectangular field with dimensions determined by the number of players and the available space.
- Kho Kho poles: Two vertical poles at opposite corners of the field, marking the two ends of the central line.
Objective: The objective of Kho Kho is for the chasing team (chasers) to tag all the players of the opposing team (defenders) as quickly as possible.
Setup:
- Divide players into two teams, each consisting of seven players. One team will be the chasers, and the other will be the defenders.
- Determine which team will chase and which will defend first, typically by a toss or mutual agreement.
- Position the defenders inside the field, scattered in various directions.
Gameplay:
- The chasers start the game in a straight line in the center of the field, facing one of the defenders.
- The game begins with the first defender from the defending team entering the central area between the two lines of chasers.
- The chasers attempt to tag the defenders by touching them with their hands. The defenders use their speed and agility to avoid being tagged.
- Once a defender is tagged, they are considered out and must leave the field.
- If a defender touches the central line or crosses it while trying to avoid being tagged, they have to turn around and run back in the opposite direction.
- The game continues until all the defenders are tagged by the chasers or until a predetermined time limit is reached.
- After the chasing team’s turn is complete, the roles switch. The chasers become the defenders, and the previous defenders become the chasers.
Winning: The team that tags all the opposing players in the shortest amount of time wins the game.
Rules:
- The chasers must tag the defenders with their hands and cannot use any physical force or body contact to tag.
- The defenders must avoid being tagged by using their speed, quick movements, and strategic positioning.
- Defenders cannot cross the central line or the field’s boundary lines while trying to avoid being tagged.
