Guru Brahma Mantra

Mantra

Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu

Gurur Devo Maheshwarah

Guru Saakshaata Parabrahma

Tasmai Shri Guruve Namah

Meaning of Guru Brahma Mantra

The Lord of Creation, also known as the Generator, is Brahma, the spiritual leader. Guru Devo Maheshwarah means Guru is the Maheshwara (Shiva or the destroyer), Guru Vishnu means Guru is Vishnu (Vishnu is the Lord who is known as the organiser), Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Guru is Parbrahma (i.e., the supreme god or almighty), and Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Guru is the Maheshwara.

Guru is that Para Brahma because he leads people down a path of light. By saying “Tasmai Shree Guruve Namah,” we are expressing our homage to the guru that was earlier mentioned.

Guru is therefore the representation of Para Brahma, the supreme Godhead, as a realised soul.
