October 29, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

About the Event:

Here is an opportunity to explore vernacular techniques of weaving walls with reeds and plants, which are rich resources our native ecology offers.

In the workshop, participants get to explore hands-on,

  1. Native woven walls of Telangana using Bamboo, Lantana, Vitex and Wild Bay trees.
  2. Local soils on the farm to make earthen plasters
  3. Sculpting and making niches in these walls

The activity will introduce participants to the various stages of the construction of Native Earthen walls, from the most vernacular form to the contemporary adaptations of the same. The idea is to let the walls speak.

This will be a completely hands-on activity. Please be ready to work with clay and dress appropriately. Participants are encouraged to bring headgear & clothes that would suit current weather conditions.
