The Legends of Jyotirlingam

Jyotirlingams are shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva where Shiva is worshipped in the form of a Jyotirlingam or “Lingam of Light.”. India is said to have twelve Jyotirlinga shrines, although they are not consistently located. As with any Shiva Linga, the Jyotirlingas look the same. A person who has attained a certain level of spirituality may see these lingas as columns of fire piercing the earth.
