SUMMARY:WEAVING WALLS & MAGIC
DESCRIPTION:About the Event: \nHere is an opportunity to explore vernacular techniques of weaving walls with reeds and plants\, which are rich resources our native ecology offers. \nIn the workshop\, participants get to explore hands-on\, \n\nNative woven walls of Telangana using Bamboo\, Lantana\, Vitex and Wild Bay trees.\nLocal soils on the farm to make earthen plasters\nSculpting and making niches in these walls\n\nThe activity will introduce participants to the various stages of the construction of Native Earthen walls\, from the most vernacular form to the contemporary adaptations of the same. The idea is to let the walls speak. \nThis will be a completely hands-on activity. Please be ready to work with clay and dress appropriately. Participants are encouraged to bring headgear & clothes that would suit current weather conditions. \nDATES:         \nOctober 29th-30th\, 2022 \n\nThe workshop starts at 8:30 am on 29th October and ends at 6 pm on 30th October 2022.\nPlease plan your travel such that you are here by 8 am on Saturday\, 29th and leave after the course is completed on the 30th.\n\nFood and Accommodation: \n\nSimple food cooked by the hands of village Amma\nAccommodation will be basic and shared. Please bring your own sheets\, sleeping bags/blankets\, and pillows. Mattresses will be provided.\n\nAbout the venue: \nMahi Farms is a year-old organic farm working towards building integrated ecosystems. Its a place for learning and experimentation and a demonstration site for Regenerative Living. Agroecology principles were applied over the year to the land to conserve water and soil and regenerate the ecosystem\, leading to major of our food needs currently being satisfied by this land.
